The Tuscan Jasmine is a plant that produces white or pink flowers and is known for its delightful fragrance. Its leaves are dark green and glossy, and the plant retains this color throughout all seasons of the year. In autumn, the leaves may turn reddish.
The Tuscan Jasmine is also called star jasmine due to the star shape of its flower.
The aforementioned fragrance emitted by the plant is best noticeable in the evening hours.
The Tuscan Jasmine is a true climbing plant. The ultimate size of the plant can reach up to 3 to 6 meters, depending on the conditions.
This plant can be used in the ground or in a pot. Ensure good, well-draining soil so that the roots do not remain too wet. However, water regularly, especially if the plant is in a pot.
It is an ideal plant for, for example, against a fence or wall, or a pergola. If the Jasmine is to be used as a fence or covering, approximately 3 to 4 Tuscan Jasmines are needed per meter. This will create the best dense growth and result.
The flowering period of the Tuscan Jasmine is from May to September. The ideal location for the Jasmine is in the sun or partial shade.
The Jasmine is winter-hardy, down to about -15 degrees Celsius. However, be careful with wind. The Jasmine does not like to be in full wind; rather, it prefers a more sheltered spot.
The Tuscan Jasmine also needs to be pruned if necessary, which can be done immediately after the flowering period. Preferably in October.
The Tuscan Jasmine also has a good ecological value, attracting many bees and butterflies!
